The collapse of a cave dome in the Punkva Cave gave rise to the Macocha Gorge. It is an eye-catcher not only because of its size but especially because of its mystically green nature. A viewing platform at the highest point of the gorge and one at 92 meters offer you spectacular views into the gorge.
At this natural wonder, torrents of water gush from the rock and cascade down into a small natural pool. After a hike to the village of Rešov, one can fully enjoy this attraction. The route is relatively easy to manage and is well-suited for families with children.
The Podyjí National Park is located directly on the border with Austria and is characterized not only by forests but also by the green meadows of the Thaya River. Along this watercourse, you can go hiking and cycling. In addition to nature, you can also find some historical sights such as medieval castles.
Mystical castles, deep pine forests, and the famous rock formations between Jičín and Železný Brod characterize the landscape of Český ráj. Velka Amerika is located about an hour by car from Prague. The former quarry is situated in the Bohemian Karst. Kilometer-long tunnels connect Velka Amerika with other nearby quarries. Today, however, it is no longer used for limestone extraction, but for recreation in nature.
Where the Adršpach-Teplice Rocks are located today, there was once a vast chalk sea. As it receded, it left behind distinctive rock formations with intriguing names like Lion's Cage, Rübezahl's Garden, or Cathedral Walls. The area covers a space of 17.7 km². The Mayor and the Rock Crown are popular climbing areas.
At the border with Poland, the Giant Mountains offer the best conditions for exciting activities. For example, explore the quaint river sources while hiking and climb the highest mountain of both countries, the Sněžka. The popular resort town of Špindlerův Mlýn is particularly suitable as a starting point.

The Czech Republic is located in the middle of Europe. Neighbouring countries are Germany, Poland, Slovakia and Austria. Previously the western part of the Czech Republic belonged to Czechoslovakia, but since 1993 the Czech Republic has been an independent country.
Six years later the Czech Republic joined NATO and in 2004 the European Union. Five years later, a representative from the Czech Republic even became the first president of the EU.
Areas in the Bohemian valleys (a region that covers about two thirds of the Czech Republic, the rest is covered by Moravia and Silesia) have a low precipitation rate. Other areas in this region, however, have a more unstable climate.

In summer, temperatures can exceed 30 °C in the Czech Republic. In the mountains, however, the average temperature is only around 11°C. From October the average temperature generally drops again, towards below 10°C.
As mentioned earlier, the Czech Republic has joined the EU. However, the country has not yet switched to the Euro. The Czech Republic still has its own currency, called the Koruna (CZK) or the Czech Crown.
All banks in the Czech Republic are part of major foreign banks, so you do not have to worry about accessing this facility whilst awayt. Currently, € 1,- is about 25,35 Kroner.
The exchange rate has generally always been fairly stable, but since April 2017 the euro has fallen considerably against the Crown. To easily convert prices in the Czech Republic to Euro and estimate how expensive something is, do the following.
Multiply the amount in CZK by 4 and divide by 100. You see a nice souvenir for 150 CKZ and you want to know how much this is actually in Euro. You do 150 x 4 = 600, dividing by 100 = 6 Euro.
