With its winding old town alleys, arcades, and lakeside promenade, Murten exudes historical charm. Estavayer-le-Lac

Start your tour of Estavayer-le-Lac in the old town. From the Place de Moudon, you have a beautiful view over the Jura. On a hill north of the old town stands the Chenaux Castle. From here, you can reach the Frog Museum in a few minutes. 108 preserved frogs depict everyday scenes: you can see them at a feast, in school, or working in a notary's office. Now, Lake Neuchâtel beckons with its bathing beaches. In summer, the water ski lift is a great experience for young and old, and beautiful hiking trails lead through the hinterland.

Bulle

At the foot of the Freiburg Pre-Alps lies the rural town of Bulle. Overlooking the marketplace, where you can buy the famous Gruyère cheese at the weekly market, is a 13th-century castle. Nearby, you can delve into the town's history at the Musée gruérien. During your stay in Bulle, a Fribourg cheese fondue is a must. The Swiss national dish, made half with Gruyère and half with Vacherin cheese, is on the menu at many restaurants in Bulle. Just a few minutes away, the La Chia area invites you to hike in the summer and ski in the winter.

A well-developed network of hiking and mountain biking trails leads, for example, to Charmey's panoramic mountain Vounetz, from which you have great views of the Pre-Alps, or to alpine farms where the famous Le Gruyere cheese is made. Climbers can enjoy themselves in the rope park or on the steep slopes of the Gastlosen. Charmey's local mountain Vounetz transforms into a winter sports paradise in the cold season with illuminated cross-country ski trails, a snow park, and snowshoe routes. You can comfortably reach the top with the gondola lift. Skiers can pursue their passion in the nearby small ski area Jaun, which is characterized by family-friendly slopes and four lifts.
