Saint Aygulf - Must-see attractions
Beach of Saint-Aygulf
At Plage de Saint-Aygulf with its fine sand, every vacationer gets their money's worth. The family area features three bathing bays protected by breakwaters. Shade-giving palm trees, a beach bar, and gently sloping water ensure carefree beach enjoyment. In the middle area below the dunes, naturists find a spot in untouched nature. The eastern beach section is reserved for kitesurfers. Other water sports are also offered here. Right next to it is the dog beach, where your four-legged friend can also take a dip in the water.
Fréjus Zoological Park
More than 400 wild animals from all continents can be visited on foot or by car at the Zoo and Safari Park of Fréjus, and some can even be fed. Elephants, big cats, hippos, and camels, as well as reptiles, monkeys, and numerous bird species, live here. There is a petting zoo for the youngest visitors and a picnic area where you can spread out your blanket and refresh yourself. Additionally, you will find a relaxation area in the park where you can take a break at the snack bar.
Areca Park
The Areca Park has direct access to the coastal path. Make a detour from the sea into the park and stroll under palm and pine trees. Benches invite you to rest in the 3-hectare area. The youngest guests can let off steam on the playground. The park, established in the 19th century, was redesigned in 2001. There is a pine forest, a bamboo grove, and a palm grove. The botanical path provides information about the plants in the park.
Coastal Path Saint Aygulf
The Sentier des Douaniers is a coastal path used by customs officers during the Second Empire under Napoleon III. It runs for a distance of 8 km between the harbor and the Pointe de la Tête Noire. A special feature of the Sentier des Douaniers is the numerous calanques. These fjord-like coastal inlets impress with picturesque bays. Particularly beautiful is the Calanque des Corailleurs. It is named so because its beach was once frequented by coral fishermen from Spain and Genoa.
Saint Cassien Lake
In summer, the water of Lake Saint-Cassien reaches temperatures of around 30°C, making it a true holiday magnet. Since the 1980s, the lake has been considered an angler's paradise due to its large carp population. The lake is also very suitable for water sports such as diving or rowing. Stroll along the shore of the lake, densely lined with pines and cork oaks, and take a trip to Fayence or Cannes.
Villepey-Teiche
The Étangs de Villepey entice visitors with a varied experience. In the unique leisure and nature area just a little off the beaches of the Côte d'Azur, seclusion and tranquility await you. Hikers, cyclists, and bird enthusiasts will especially enjoy it. With your family, you can observe the waterfowl in the area from the shore. Along the hiking trails around the lake, there are several spots where you can lie in wait.

Chapel Saint-Aygou built on pagan origins
On Avenue Albert Rey in Saint-Aygulf stands the unadorned Chapelle Saint-Aygou. Inside, you will discover a pagan cult site from antiquity integrated into the modern structure, upon which the Christian chapel is founded. The oratory and paintings by the artist Carolus-Duran (Charles Auguste Émile Durant) are also worth seeing.
Challenging mountain tour: Rocher de Roquebrune
Northeast of Saint-Aygulf rises the reddish glowing mountain Rocher de Roquebrune. Despite its height of only 373 meters, the ascent is considered not quite easy. Various routes lead to the three summit crosses and a magnificent view. In the upper area, you have to climb. The most difficult sections are secured with ropes.
Hike to the Chapelle Notre-Dame de la Roquette
You can reach the mountain Rocher de Roquebrune by bike or car, about 17 km northeast of Saint-Aygulf. On a 9.2 km tour to the summit, you pass the chapel Notre-Dame-de-la-Roquette on the mountainside. In earlier times, it was dedicated to Notre Dame des Spasmes and attracted pilgrims with seizure disorders.
Pleasure hike through the Domaine du Dragon
About 40 km northeast of Saint-Aygulf, the Domaine du Dragon opens its doors to wine lovers on the outskirts of Draguignan. They participate in a tour of the winery and enjoy the excellent rosé, white, and red wines (Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Mourvedre). Or you can enjoy a hike through the idyllic vineyards.

Day 1
Your first day in Saint-Aygulf in the heart of the French Riviera is spent as a beach and swimming day. With more than 300 sunny days a year, sunbathers enjoy relaxation here all year round. The natural golden beach section in front of Saint-Aygulf, stretching 800 meters, invites you to swim in the Mediterranean. It is one of the largest in the Esterel Côte d'Azur region. Later, you can discover charming cafés and shops along the promenade of Saint-Aygulf during a leisurely stroll, inviting you to wander. Here, you can enjoy local delicacies such as almond confectionery, tapenade, and fresh fish. Spend the hot afternoon hours at the nearby Aqualand Fréjus. The huge water park with varied, fast slides, different pools, a wave pool, and a wild water channel promises fun for the whole family.
Day 2
On the second day, you will explore the picturesque surroundings. A bike tour or a short 7-kilometer hike takes you around the Villepey ponds. The protected area covers 255 hectares and is a paradise for over 200 bird species. With a bit of luck, you might even spot flamingos, but certainly swans and a variety of ducks. From the hills behind the Mediterranean, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the bay of Fréjus Saint-Raphael. In the afternoon, you will visit the historic town of Fréjus. The old town is rich in culture and history. You will be particularly impressed by the Roman amphitheater, which once accommodated thousands of spectators. Stroll through the narrow streets with picturesque shops and admire the charming architecture. An evening stroll at the port of Fréjus rounds off the day and lets you immerse yourself deeply in the lively atmosphere of the port city.
Day 3
The third day begins with pure action and adrenaline. The theme park "Luna Park Fréjus" awaits with a variety of rides for adventurers of all ages. From colorful carousels for the little ones to fast roller coasters for the grown-ups, and fair booths with fragrant almonds and fresh crêpes – there's something for everyone here. In the "Big Ben," you lose the ground beneath your feet, and in the mirror maze, even your sense of direction. You can let the afternoon wind down more calmly. Directly behind Fréjus is Saint-Raphaël. The city impresses with its lively promenade at the harbor and its Provençal charm. Browse the shops for small souvenirs and enjoy fresh seafood one last time in the beach restaurants. If there's still time before departure, relax at the beach to end the day. Alternatively, cycle along the coast and take in the breathtaking view over the Mediterranean.
