Location Description Fanø

Large, well-known bathing resort with 3'500 inhabitants, in the western part of the region, directly by the sea, 10 km west from Esbjerg. In the resort: supermarket, shops, butchery, bakery, boutiques, bank, restaurant, bar, museum. Fitness centre. Besides: pharmacy, doctor. Kids' club Legeland Indoor playground 2 km, Skovlegeplads Forest playground 9 km, nature reserve. Access: no access to the resort by car, reachable only by boat from Esbjerg 5 km. Car ferry Nordby Fanø - Esbjerg 10 km.

Summer

Sandy beach, 15 m long, gently sloping, with beach facilities, suitable for children, 3 km from the resort. Surfing. Minigolf 2 km. Fishing (permit required). Hiking paths. Bicycle paths. Children's playground. The west coast is rough, fresh, roaring and delightfully exhilarating. You will find long, wide and sandy beaches with high dunes as far as the eye can see. You can experience some of Denmark's most scenic sunsets over the North See from the beaches in western Jutland. If you prefer calmer water and characteristic natural experiences, you ought to visit the preserved peninsula Skallingen, where the seals are gambolling, or the bird sanctuary Tipperne at Ringkobing Fjord. These places offer impressive sights, as millions of migratory birds gather here every spring and autumn on their way towards north or south. By the lighthouse 'Blaavandshuk Fyr' you will find Denmark's most western point. Surrounding the lighthouse the many concrete bunkers still bear widness of World War II.

Das Haus ist klein und kuschelig, wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Der Fasan auf dem Foto kommt jeden Tag und außerdem noch Rehe und Kaninchen ... Superschön! Das Sofa und der Sessel auf den Fotos sind nicht mehr da, stattdessen stehen dort über Eck zwei neue, graue Sofas, es ist dort also modernisiert worden. Ich hoffe, dass als Nächstes das Bett ausgetauscht wird, weil es sehr, sehr weich und durchgelegen ist und nichts für Menschen mit empfindlichem Rücken. Schade ist auch, dass es im Schlafzimmer keine Ablagemöglichkeit für Bücher, Brille, Kleidung gibt. Unser Fazit: Mit neuem Bett würden wir sofort wiederkommen!

Das Haus wurde 1974 gebaut – heute wahrscheinlich eines der ältesten in Rindby Strand. Und man sieht und merkt wirklich, dass es etwas in die Jahre gekommen ist. Alles – innen und außen – hat eine gewisse Patina und die Ausstattung stammt wohl überwiegend noch aus der Bauzeit. Das ist natürlich kein Mangel: Alte Dinge sollten genutzt und gepflegt werden. Gepflegt ist das Haus, da gibt es nicht viel zu beanstanden. Es war bei unserer Ankunft ordentlich und sauber, von ein paar Spinnweben in den Zimmern und Brotkrümeln im Geschirrschrank abgesehen. Im nördlichen Schlafzimmer roch es leicht muffig. Im Bad gibt es Duschvorhänge. Dass es keine Waschmaschine und keine Spülmaschine und keinen „Bullerofen“ gibt, hat uns nicht gestört. Wir waren zu zweit und nur eine Woche im Haus. Ärgerlicher war es da schon, dass es keinen ordentlichen Sonnenschirm für die Terrasse gibt: Der Vorhandene ist an mehreren Stellen zerrissen und unbrauchbar. Aber auch das war für uns kein großes Problem, denn wer sitzt bei der wunderbaren Umgebung schon lange auf der Terrasse? Es gibt so viel zu sehen und zu genießen auf Fanø: Vom unglaublich tollen und riesigen Strand, der über den „Badesti 8“ vom Haus aus in knapp 5 min zu Fuß zu erreichen ist über die ausgedehnten einsamen Dünen mit den Bunkerresten im Norden zu den wunderbaren Wäldern und Heiden der Fanø Plantage rund um die alten Vogelkojen und die schönen Orte Nordby und Sønderho. Man sollte unbedingt Fahrräder dabei haben (oder leihen). Die Fahrradwege sind gut organisiert und fast überall gut zu befahren. Fazit: Das Häuschen „Toppen 11“ ist alt aber gemütlich und als Basis für einen kurzen Strand- und Fahrrad-Urlaub gut geeignet. Große Ansprüche an Komfort und moderne Ausstattung sollte man nicht haben.
