Klis Fortress
Over the centuries, Klis Fortress was a strategic defensive stronghold. Originally built in the 2nd century, it was significantly expanded and altered in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, resulting in a unique blend of Roman, Byzantine, and Venetian architectural elements.
Marjan Hill
Directly outside the gates of Split, the Marjan Hill is considered an excellent recreational area. The entire trail to the viewpoint and back can be completed on foot in about 2.5 hours. Those who wish can cover the distance by bicycle.
Split Riva Promenade
One particularly enjoys looking at the many yachts from the Riva promenade in Split. If interested, you can even book a trip across the Adriatic. The promenade, in the shadow of Diocletian's Palace, is famous for its culinary offerings.
Diocletian's Palace
The summer residence of Emperor Diocletian was built in the 4th century AD. It fascinates with the typical neoclassical architectural features. Today, the masonry is preserved in ruins. Some colonnades and the Syrian arch can be admired.
