Maspalomas

The Canary Islands, known as the "Islands of Eternal Spring," invite you to enjoy a year-round beach holiday with their excellent climate. Las Palmas

Las Palmas is lively around the clock. The largest city of the Canary Islands attracts with a variety of sights and numerous popular events, among which the carnival held in winter is a special highlight. You can relax in San Telmo Park in the Triana district. A must-see is Vegueta, the old town of Las Palmas. The five-nave Santa Ana Cathedral and the old town hall built in neoclassical style offer you an insight into the history of the city. Sporty guests are drawn to El Confital beach, which is very popular among surfers.

Puerto de la Nieves

The harbor of the community is one of the most popular excursion destinations for locals, who often commute here from the metropolis of Las Palmas over the weekend. The fish dishes in the restaurants near the coast are considered a delicacy, where the fresh catches of the night are deliciously prepared and served. The chapel Virgen de las Nieves from the 16th century is considered a cultural landmark of Puerto de la Nieves and is the ideal destination for a stroll. If you would like to undertake longer hikes, the nearby Valle de Agaete and the more distant Pico de las Nieves are recommended.

Puerto de Mogán

Puerto de Mogán is characterized by its many picturesque old fishermen's houses and alleys, as well as its numerous canals and small bridges. Tejeda

The volcanic landscape around the picturesque village of Tejeda is characterized by almond and pine forests. The village is located at one of the highest points of Gran Canaria, surrounded by terraced orchards, and offers a great panoramic view. Hikers and climbers, in particular, find a true paradise here. The village itself offers many great sights with its pretty architecture, the Cross of Tejeda, and the parish church Nuestra Señora del Socorro. In addition, there are lively shops with great souvenirs, bars, restaurants, and local culinary highlights such as the almond specialty Bienmesabe, delicious honey, or marzipan from the region.

San Bartolomé de Tirajana

Stroll through the town center during your city tours and take a look at the Casa Canaria or the historic church. Around San Bartolomé de Tirajana, a variety of hiking trails begin, leading through the volcanic landscapes. From many hills, you can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view all the way to the coast. In the south, the dunes and the beach of Maspalomas are considered the most popular excursion destinations. Agüimes

Visitors like to linger under the shady trees in the small forecourt of the parish church Iglesia de San Sebastián. In the cozy cafes and bars around the church square, one can observe the tranquil ambiance of Agüimes. Additionally, traditional shops offer handmade lace and knitwear, ceramics, and clothing. Teror

During a visit to Teror, enjoy the baroque Basilica of Nuestra Senora del Pino, which was rebuilt in the 18th century. Inside, the wooden altar is worth seeing. In September, a traditional pilgrimage takes place to this special site. Many restaurants in Teror also open then. Try the local cuisine in the small taverns on Calle Real de la Plaza and in the narrow streets. Stewed potatoes with mojo sauce, roast rabbit, and pickled olives are among the most popular specialties in Gran Canaria. Additionally, the small shops sell homemade goat cheese from the island.

Gran Canaria - Climate

The sun smiles down from the sky on Gran Canaria for around 300 days a year. The climate is subtropical, with the north being somewhat cooler than the south. This is due to the 2,000-meter-high mountain range that serves as a weather divide. Generally, most precipitation falls from November to February, with rain occurring on seven to eight days per month. Since temperatures can rise to just over 20°C even in winter, Gran Canaria is an ideal year-round destination. The water temperature is highest from July to September, at 22 to 23°C.
