Ribe
The impressive landmark of Ribe is the five-nave cathedral consecrated in 1250. The cathedral houses the graves of two Danish kings. Climb the tower and enjoy the magnificent view over the old town to the Wadden Sea. Immerse yourself in the captivating world of the Vikings at the Ribe's Viking Museum. Reconstructed buildings from the Viking era can be admired at the Ribe Viking Center open-air museum. A major attraction is the annual Viking market held at the beginning of May, featuring traders, craftsmen, minstrels, and warriors in historical clothing. In the large exhibition of the Wadden Sea Center, you will learn exciting and astonishing facts about the fascinating tidal sea and its millions of migratory birds.
Esbjerg
The pulse of Esbjerg beats at the market square Torvet with the equestrian statue of King Christian IX. In the summer, exciting flea markets and the widely popular Esbjerg Festival Days take place here. The nearby Musikhuset attracts with concerts and theaters. From the historic water tower, you can enjoy a magnificent view over the cityscape and the harbor. Families are drawn to the Fisheries and Maritime Museum with its interesting aquarium and seal pool. The animals are fed daily around noon. An attraction of the museum is the Wadden Sea Pavilion. Esbjerg's landmarks are the giant white sculptures "Man Meets the Sea." Near the beach, the forest area Nørreskoven invites you to its wildlife enclosure.
Ebeltoft
Stroll through the narrow medieval streets with their charming half-timbered facades and relax in cozy cafes. The heart of the city beats at the market square with the Old Town Hall. Visit the Museum of East Jutland in the town hall building to learn about the region's eventful history. The Glass Museum presents fascinating modern glass art from around the world. The frigate Jylland is an impressive 102 meters long and 57 meters high. You can learn about its exciting history in the exhibition hall. Adventurous visitors can climb the rigging up to 23 meters high under guidance. Today, a lively center for art and culture invites visitors to the former malt factory. The beaches are child-friendly.
Søndervig
The magnificent location of Søndervig on the North Sea and the proximity to the picturesque Ringkøbing Fjord offer a variety of outdoor activities such as swimming, surfing, and cycling. The lively town center provides unique shopping experiences and culinary moments with numerous shopping opportunities, restaurants, and cafes. The selection of attractions for young and old around Søndervig is enormous. Those who want to reach great heights can climb ten meters high between the treetops of the WOW Park in Skjern. In bad weather, a visit to the 30°C warm water park with a mystical grotto and a great spiral slide is worthwhile. Just a few kilometers from Søndervig, the charming harbor town of Ringkøbing invites you to take a historic stroll.
Tønder
Stroll through the charming old town of Tønder past proud patrician houses from the 17th and 18th centuries. The Gothic Christ Church with its 48-meter-high spire houses impressive epitaphs. The richly decorated pulpit and pews date from the 16th century. The Lace Museum commemorates the lace-making of the 17th century. Also worth seeing are the collections of the Museum Sønderjylland Cultural History on the city's history and art of the region, as well as the Zeppelin and Garrison Museum. Until 1920, Tønder had one of the largest airship ports in Germany. Visit the Tønder Festival at the end of August. The folk and roots festival is one of the largest of its kind.
Videbaek
During a tour of Videbæk, you will be captivated by the art in public spaces. Whether it's the sculptures The Four Seasons by Jens Lund, the stone sculpture The Mantled Baboon by artist Henrik Voldmester, or the large V for Videbæk by Per Arnoldi: there is much to discover along the way! The West Jutland Art Pavilion also attracts art enthusiasts to Videbæk. Outstanding is the snow-white pavilion architecture by Danish architect Henning Larsen, which was uniquely built partially into the small town lake. Changing exhibitions from sculpture to photography await you. The evening concludes with diverse performances at the Ringkøbing Fjord Theater.
Ringkobing
Historic brick houses line the cozy cobblestone streets, inviting a stroll through the coastal town. The Torvet, the marketplace, is the heart of the old town. Treat yourself to a break in one of the many cafés or browse the shops and boutiques for a souvenir. Culture enthusiasts visit the regional history Ringkøbing-Skjern Museum during their city vacation. On a city walk, you will sooner or later encounter the "fede dame," the fat lady. This bronze sculpture near the picturesque harbor has long been a cult symbol. It represents the prosperity of the western world in the quirky form of a corpulent lady on the shoulders of a slender man.
Hvide Sande
Hvide Sande delights with its cozy charm. A stroll along the harbor is worthwhile, where you can attend the traditional fish auction every morning. Those who want to learn more about the history of the fishing-influenced town should plan a visit to Fiskeriets Hus, the fishing museum. The beach is right at your doorstep during a vacation in Hvide Sande. Only a narrow strip of dunes separates the town center from the unspoiled North Sea beach. The Ringkøbing Fjord is excellent for all fishing enthusiasts. If you wish, you can take a guided boat trip with the whole family to explore the holiday region from the water.
