Skywalk Dachstein "Stairway to Nothingness"

The Stairway to Nowhere is a spectacular viewing platform made of glass, concrete, and steel cables. Its name says it all: you descend 14 narrow steps onto a glass viewing platform with the feeling of standing in nothingness. From the Stairway to Nowhere, you not only enjoy one of the most literally breathtaking views but also an expansive view over the Dachstein Mountains. Thanks to the glass enclosure of the viewing platform, you are offered an unforgettable panoramic view of the holiday destination.

Mirror Lake

Several hiking trails lead to the gem at around 1,700 meters altitude. It's quicker with the Preunegg Jet cable car, which takes you to the Spiegelsee in a 30- to 40-minute ride. The blue of the mountain lake against the peaks of the Dachstein mountains is breathtaking. A trip to the Spiegelsee is especially beautiful in mid-June, as the alpine rose blooms and bathes the surroundings of the mountain water in magnificent colors. On the nearby Reiteralm, this natural phenomenon is celebrated with the Almrauschblüte festival.

The Landfriedstein is part of the Dachstein massif mountain range and is considered one of the more demanding peaks in the alpine environment. It is not always necessary to reach the summit of the Landfriedstein. Those who are around the Riesachsee, adventurous, and free from vertigo should definitely dare a walk along the Riesach suspension bridge. Here, at dizzying heights, you get the best view of the roaring natural spectacle as you cross over the waterfall.

Planai-Hochwurzen ski area

The ski area Planai / Schladming extends around the 1,906-meter-high Planai as the local mountain of Schladming and the neighboring peak Hochwurzen. It offers skiing enjoyment on over 100 kilometers with predominantly easy and intermediate slopes. With its many easy slopes, winter sports enthusiasts with children or beginners on skis and snowboards are also in the right place around Schladming. Tobogganing fun with the whole family and snowshoe hikes amidst the fairy-tale snowy winter landscape complement the sporty vacation.

Reiteralm ski area

The ski area Reiteralm / Schladming / Ski amadé has around 122 kilometers of slopes. The majority of them are of an easy to medium difficulty level. This makes Reiteralm a recommended destination for beginners on the slopes as well as for families. In addition to skiing and snowboarding, winter hikes up to 1,800 meters high around the Reiteralm are also a lot of fun. Schladming - Climate

From May to October, Schladming has perfect weather for hiking. The warmest month is August with an average temperature of around 20 degrees Celsius. In January and February, temperatures are below freezing. Most precipitation falls in summer, and from November it comes down as snow. In the valley, the largest amounts of snow are recorded in February and March, with 85 to 87 cm. The average annual precipitation is 1,379 mm. It is advisable to pack an umbrella for the trip to Schladming.
