The label is based on 24 strict criteria, including 100% renewable energy, 100% ecological heating systems, energy-efficient appliances, double-glazed windows, recycling, and key social and legal requirements. ECOmodation is designed around transparent, verifiable criteria and independent review, supporting credible sustainability communication in line with evolving EU consumer requirements.
Every certified holiday home undergoes 100% independent digital checks, complemented by regular audits and onsite inspections. Only accommodation meeting all criteria receive the ECOmodation label.
Together with the “Zentrum für nachhaltigen Tourismus” (Centre for Sustainable Tourism) at Eberswalde University, Interhome has developed ECOmodation, a sustainability label designed to become a trusted industry-wide standard for eco-conscious travellers.
The label is awarded by Austria-based ECOmodation GmbH, which reviews submitted property data, certifies properties that meet all criteria, and conducts ongoing monitoring and recertification.
