The Platja de La Fosca is located in the Spanish town of Palamós on the Costa Brava, within sight of the ruins of the Sant Esteve de Mar castle. The sea is clear and shallow, making it particularly suitable for swimming and snorkeling.
The large beach of Palamós stretches for almost 600 meters from the beautiful harbor along the town. You can expect a beach with fine, soft sand that gently slopes into the sea, providing ideal beach conditions for families with children.
The museum's permanent exhibition acquaints its visitors with the development of fishing as well as the unique lifestyle of the local people shaped by fishing. The location of the exhibition is also extraordinary: the exhibits are housed on two floating boats in the harbor.
The landmark of the harbor is the lighthouse. It is visible from most nearby cafés and is considered a popular photo subject. Since its construction in 1865, it has been continuously in operation and is famous for its typical architecture.
The site was already settled in ancient times, as evidenced by some finds from the Roman period. The castle itself was built north of Palamos in the 13th century and was only actively used for a few decades before it was converted into a farmhouse.
