Situated 280 km south of Lisbon, between the Cabo de Sao Vicentre (45 km) and Albufeira (35 km). 69 km from Faro airport and 108 km from the Spanish border (Vila Real de Santo Antonio). It is one of the most important cities in the Algarve for its fishing port and its fish factories. Playa da Rocha 3 km. Tourist interest: Iglesia Parroquial (18th century), Alvor 4 km (castle walls, 16th century church), Abicada 8 km (roman ruins, pretty mosaics). Interest: Walk to the Sierra de Monchique, passing Las Termas, river trip to Silves go down the Arade river etc.
