Picturesque farming village, on a river, in the countryside, 21 km south-east from Penrith, 30 km from Ullswater, 51 km south from Carlisle. All shops, restaurants etc. in the resort. For arrivals by plane: airport Manchester (1) 180 km. Situated at the foot of the Pennines with views across the lakelands. There are a variety of small shops offering local crafts and regional specialities. To visit: Appleby Castle, St Lawrences church.
