Climate
In the last Century discovered as a prime retirement community on the south-western shores of Tampa Bay, St Petersburg is today a modern city with the whole spectrum of entertainment and activities for tourists. South-west of downtown are its "Holiday Isles" with miles of wide sandy beaches; starting in the North at Redington Beach: Madeira Beach, Treasure Island and St Petersburg Beach - the liveliest of the regional waterfront communities. To the East follows the private island "Isla del Sol" with upscale developments and just south of it the quiet island Tierra Verde, adjacent to the Fort de Soto nature preserve. All sorts of watersports. Tennis, golf. Many restaurants, bars and shops. Numerous regional attractions within 30 to 60 minutes drive. Tampa International Airport 16 miles. Orlando 90 miles. Miami 250 miles.
