Climate
About 33 km south of Sarasota lies the quiet seaside town of Venice, where the famous Ringling, Barnum %26 Bailey Circus maintains its winter quarters. Beach combers often find fossilized sharks' teeth along the shoreline and rumors persist that pirate treasures are buried in this coastal area. A little further to the South is Englewood with its barrier island Englewood Beach, a popular vacation spot among younger guests, offering barbecue grills, picnic areas and a playground. 6 km further southeast is Rotonda West, represening a quiet residental setting. Cape Haze and the unspoiled Palm Island just off the mainland - connected by a ferry boat service - are located at the northern end of Boca Grande Pass near the waters of Charlotte Harbor.
