Known as the "Ciudad Jardin", Gouveia is situated next to the Serra da Estrela, 58 km from Guarda (Portuguese city situated at 1040 m above sea level) and 30 km from Seia. Typical produce (wool, wine and cheese). Hiking paths in the Sierra, route of castles, historical villas, medieval fortresses. Paraponting (Linhares 26 km). Skiing (Planalto Central 36 km), Fishing (Mondego river). Mountain Biking and Golf (45 km). In Gouveia: Museo de la Ciudad, Etnologico museum, Ayuntamiento and Tribunal building (1734), Misericordia churches (1720) of S Juliao (1739) and S Pedro (1758), the Casa da Torre (old synagogue, 16th century).
