Small, well-known city, 35 km east from Weiden/Oberpfalz, 70 km from Bayreuth, 114 km north-east from Regensburg. In the resort: shops, grocers, butchers, bakers. Indoor pool. Access: railway station "Weiden/Opf." 35 km. Bus service. Hof 90 km. Kulmbach 100 km. For arrivals by plane: airport Nürnberg (NUE) 162 km, München (MUC) 230 km, Leipzig (LEJ) 240 km. Baernau is situated in the North Bavarian rural district of Tirschenreuth, in the northern Oberpfalz and is the centre of the German button industry (button museum); several million buttons leave Baernau daily for all over the world. Possible trips to nearby Czech Republic (Marienbad 36 km, Prague 198 km), hiking in the nature reserve Waldnaabtal as well as day trips to the towns of Nuernberg, Regensburg and Bayreuth.
