Breege has retained the cosy charm of a fishing village. It is quiet holiday resort, in the northern part of the island 1 km from the sea, 35 km west from Sassnitz. All shops, restaurants etc. in Sagard 15 km. In the resort: grocers, restaurant. Access: railway station "Sagard" 25 km. Bus service. For arrivals by plane: airport Rostock (RLG) 170 km, Berlin (TXL) 330 km. Breege is located directly on the idyllic Breeger Bodden which offers swimming, fishing and sailing. As home harbour to many sailing ships, Breege was one of the wealthiest towns on Ruegen in the 19th century. The many reed-covered captains' houses in the town centre are a reminder back to the old days. In the summer months, one can take beautiful boat trips from Breeger harbour to the island of Hiddensee or to Ralswiek, to the famous "Stoertebeker Festpielen" (plays).
