Well-known holiday centre. Turnov. Jičín. Praha 85 km. For arrivals by plane: airport Prag (PRG). This Bohemian paradise is approx. 100 km from Prague. This romantic region situated in the middle section of the River Jizera (Iser) unites the diversity of natural beauty with numerous historical sights with castles and traditional architecture. Cesky raj is the oldest nature reserve (since 1955) in Boehmen. The rock formations formed millions of years ago are fascinating, rock towers, grottos and rock layers. Rocks: Hruba Skala, Prihrazy, Prachovske skaly, Klokoci, a paradise for hikers and mountaineerers. People living in this area were and still are, famous for their expertise at crafts. Glass products from Zelezny Brod, wooden toys and figures by the wood carvers of Semily, rusks from Lomnice, granite jewellry and cut gems from Turnov have found their way and success throughout the world. There are many historic and cultural monuments in this Bohemian paradise: castles Hruby Rohozec, Hruba Skala, Humprecht, Jicin and castle ruins Brada, Kost, Kozlov, Trosky, Valdstejn.The region also offers lots to do for an active holiday. There is an extensive network of marked routes for hiking and cycling. The rock towns are a real paradise for mountaineering lovers. There are also areas suitable for paragliding and many lakes, rivers and lidos or the indoor pool in unfavourable weather. Other watersports are possible on certain expanses of water eg. Rafting, windsurfing, boating, diving.
