Beaches are not the sole reason for holidaymakers to visit this coastal region. Only 15 km away lies the city of Bruges that is not to be missed. Enjoy seeing the many canals, and the buildings that have been restored to their past glory and experience the Middle Ages. The most fashionable bathing resort in Belgium, Knokke, with its long fine sandy beaches, elegant boutiques, and casino, lies close to the border of the Netherlands. Resorts such as Zeebruges, Blankenberge and Ostende, to name a few, are just as popular as Knokke. Apart from all this splendour, relics from the First World War can also be found in this region.
