Further information on the country Belgium

Climate
Malmedy is situated in a picturesque region 340 m above sea level, in the middle of a basin surrounded by steep wooded hills. During 4 days of the famous Malmedy carnival (Shrove Tuesday), the town is buzzing; there is also a comical procession. Worth a visit: the St Pierre Paul et Quirin cathedral, the old Benedictine monastery and the 1782 church which has an interesting interior with furniture and objets d'art. Further sights to see include the carnival museum, open during school holidays, the paper museum, showing the development of manufacturing tecniques, as well as the Robertville municipality (10 km), well-known for its dam built in 1928; the dam incorporates a 62 ha lake, delivering Malmedy with drinking water on the one hand and feeding an electricity plant in Beverce on the other.
