A little further inland lies Oost-Vlaanderen, with Gand chosen as its county town. Although Gand sits in the shadow of Bruges, it boasts many attractions, such as the abbey of St-Bavon or the ancient houses in the old town. Just a few kilometres away from Gand, are many chateaux worth visiting. Anvers, situated approximately 60 km from the Dutch border, has an imposing port and the town is well signposted with arrows to direct drivers. Anvers is the city of diamonds and is also a gourmet paradise.
