The region of the Metallifere mountains and especially the Decinski scaly (Tetschen range) is often used by climbers and hikers. The protected park called “Swiss Czech” (grey cliff sides) and the cliff labyrinth Praveicka brana attracts thousands of tourists each year. Picturesque valleys are crossed by the Elba or by the Ohre to Bilina, two rivers which are ideal for boat trips. Other interesting trips are to: the glass museum in Harrachov, the Osek bell towers in Teplice, the climatic resorts of Teplice and Bilina. The largest zoo in the Czech republic is in Chomutov. Other interesting monuments and buildings are situated in the Terezin area. A small fort, used by the Gestapo as a jail during the 2nd World War. The Kokorinski nature park is one of the Unesco biosphere reservations.
